Helping provide food, school supplies and clothes for children in Tanzania

Hi! I’m Michaela and I am 19 and travelling on my gap here. I am currently in Tanzania for two months volunteering with PlanMyGapYear in childcare, English teaching and helping renovate schools. The kids I teach are between 3 and 6 years old and a learning basic English and maths, they are wonderfully vibrant and enthusiastic children who have such a zest for life and learning. After being here for two weeks I have noticed how the lack of resources and opportunities affect their education and growth. I am very passionate about supporting some simple aspects of their schooling to enhance their overall education.
The donations will be going towards school supplies (such as books, stationary and games for teachers and students), clothing and food. They will also be going towards other PMGY initiatives such as providing free meals for those in need and clothes and shoes for the local orphanage.
All of your donations will go towards these causes - a little truly goes along way - anything is greatly appreciated :)

Remaining funds 9 September 2024
After using majority of the fund money to go towards stationary, clothes and food there was a smaller sum that when towards a few more meals and a bunch of towels. The wonderful boarders at Patmos Island school had their graduation last week and some of the funds went towards celebrating their success with a nicer meal than they are used to. Many of these kids don’t have parents in their lives or near to them to celebrate this wonderful achievement and this evening was very special for them. I also discovered that none of these kids had any towels so the last sum of money went to getting each of them a towel. Once again, thank you so much to each one of you who donated, your generosity has gone a long way and many people are very grateful.
