My name's Rachel. I'm a big lover of animals, and would love to become an animal rescue advocate. I make Kiwi Catnip Kickers for catnip loving cats, with whom I sponsor special needs cats with Cats Protection League in Wellington. I also volunteer for Kitten Inn and work part time. My goal in life is to eventually become a Veterinarian but unfortunately money holds me back from my true dream. Until I can afford to study full time I would first off love to purchase a "Microchip Scanner" and several "Humane Animal Traps" so I can personally help out any animals, stray/found etc. This would be a great start to being able to support any animals or pets in need in my hometown and local areas.
When Angel Oscar found me in February 2015 it changed my life. Oscar taught me so much about special needs and feral/stray cats, as well as a lot about myself. He made me realize that true happiness for me is helping animals in need. Oscar unfortunately never caught a break. FIV, gingivitis which worsened to stomatitis, several surgeries, a narrow trachea, UTI's and endless infections. Chronic Kidney Disease is sadly what caught up with Oscar, after fighting it for almost 2 years. Oscar was 2 just months shy of celebrating his 5th gotcha day/birthday with me. I miss him more than anything and would love to contribute and continue helping out any animal who needs me.
In 2014 I began volunteering online for NZ Lost Pets Register which jump started my love of finding lost and found pets. Helping reunite a stolen dog from Auckland back home to Hamilton was one of the many highlights. I enjoyed that for many years and I evolved onto taking over the FB page "Stolen Dogs NZ" and I started my own lost and found pets group - "Wellington Lost & Found Pets NZ", which are both still running successfully. I have helped many animals find their way back home, helped rehome, or be at home permanently with me. I have 2 cats ashes who's owners I have unfortunately never found. They are forever at home and peace with me. I began making "Kiwi Catnip Kickers" for Angel Oscar's ongoing vet bills, medications etc. Through making kickers I've sponsored the Auckland rescue Gutter Kitties, and am beginning a new adventure to sponsor special needs cats from Cats Protection League. Aside from my dream of one day becoming a vet, I seek out new adventures with animals in need. “Saving one animal will not change the world, but surely for that one animal, the world will change forever.”
For a start, I would love to purchase a "Microchip Scanner" and several "Humane Animal Traps" so I can personally help out any animals, stray/found etc.
