Rebekah, Cam and their 8 month old daughter Trinity have to move out of their Plimmerton home for 6-8 months due to damage from flooding.
Wellington
I am sure many of you have seen the news about the Plimmerton flash flooding over the weekend. Rebekah and Cam's house is one of those that have been severely affected and are now deemed unliveable. I would like to raise funds to help them with immediate costs as it's so hard to find that extra money at short notice especially on reduced incomes this year.
After a really rough start to the year bringing their first child together into the world in the middle of level 4 lockdown restrictions with limited family support, they were just looking forward to ending 2020 on a good note by enjoying their daughter's first Christmas in their home.
However after the flash flooding over the weekend their house has been deemed unliveable while repairs are done which will take 6-8 months and they have had to move out and are now faced with having to raise the money for insurance excess rather than just enjoying their daughter Trinity's first Christmas
Rebekah said "My home is gutted with half a meter of water through this morning. Completely unliveable. Heaps of stuff ruined. First giving birth in lockdown and now this. My baby girl is not even eight months old and already she’s been through a flood and a pandemic. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced standing there in the lounge with water pouring in and a baby in my arms. I think I’m still in shock. I can’t even begin to think how the clean up begins. Everything I’ve worked so hard for gone and I can’t go home" so I thought the least we could do is raise a bit to help her out in this horrible situation.
I bonded with Rebekah this year over the impacts of COVID-19 restrictions on the rights of birthing mothers and lack of support for new families
The funds will be used towards their insurance excess. If more money is raised then it will go towards flood relief efforts in the community.
