Help Janelle and Dizz to rebuild Jizztopia after the landslip that destroyed their home.
Nationwide
Many of you have experienced the wonder that is the little slice of paradise on the rugged West Coast lovingly known as (J)Dizztopia. Though magical, the West Coast in all its beauty can be harsh and unforgiving. On Friday 4th February - during a storm that punished the still recovering Westport area - Janelle, Dizz, and Ziggy had to flee their home as a landslip ripped it off its foundations and spread it all over the hill.
Though small, 4 years of hard work was broken into pieces in minutes leaving the little family without a home. Due to the type of property and land, there is no insurance cover to help with the recovery.
Many hard days lie ahead while their possessions are salvaged, the ground dug away and retained, and a home rebuilt. Given the remoteness many of you won't be able to lend a hand, though I know you all would want to if you could.
I know Dizz and Janelle really really don't want to take your money to assist with the rebuild, but they're not the boss of us and we do what we want!
In compensation for your donation you will recieve pictures of our favourite pirate riding a digger into battle, and Karen the brave weka feasting upon the worms of the new earth.
Friend and regular Jizztopia vacationer.
Recovery and storage of Janelle and Dizz's possessions, clearing the land and retaining the unstable hill, and rebuilding the home.
A message from Janelle, Dizz and Ziggy... 9 February 2022
Our dearest friends and family,
Greetings from sliptopia! We want to say thank you from the deepest, darkest bottoms of our hearts for your amazing contribution and gift to the give-a-little page that was set up for us. When we woke up the morning after we had been forced to run from our cabin during the slip, there was nothing we could do except to get out the deck chairs and sit and stare at what had been - less than 12 hours ago - our home. We had no idea where to begin, and soon realised that we didn't have the machinery or resources to begin anything with anyway, and wouldn't for a long time to come.
Though it felt very strange and overwhelming to have a give-a-little page made for us, the contributions that have been made by our friends and family have changed the hopeless situation we were in. We are completely overwhelmed with gratitude for your generosity. The money that you have helped to raise for us means that we are now able to hire a hiab truck to try to pick up and relocate the main structure of the cabin out of harm's way (and hopefully without damaging it further - eeek), and to remove the debris that was once our bathroom and deck. It will even go some way towards helping us clear the slip with diggers, and remove some of the earth and forest that sits on the edge of our new cliff face to relieve some of that pressure and - hopefully - prevent it from slipping further.
We couldn't begin to do any of that without you. Thank you for being such amazing friends. We have a long, difficult road ahead of us but you have shone a light down this dark tunnel for us to follow. We will never be able to truly articulate how grateful to you we are. Thank you. You are our ride or die homies for lyf.
Lots of love, and more gratitude than a Hiab truck would ever be able to lift,
Dizz, Janelle, Ziggy, Karen, Jenny, baby Barb, and even Ron (the worst weka of them all). Thank you. ❤
