Thank you to everyone that has donated to our cause. With alot of time effort and more resources the house is nearly finished from the ground up almost. There was more damage than first expected but with help from many people work is nearly complete. We will update on completion of the whare hopefully next weekend! Thank you all again for your contributions!!!

Kia ora koutou, thank you all again for all your contributions. On Saturday it was all go, JJ Roofing (Taipa) came out and along with lots of whanau members started work on the roof. Prep work had been done prior so that Santino Broughton and his crew could get started. They had the roof sorted by lunchtime!! What a beauty it is too, that roof will not be going anywhere!! The lining of the ceiling and insulation will be next on the list of many things to do but for now it's safe to have people come in and assess damages and repairs. Pika McDonald came out to check out the bathroom and see what needs to be done as the floors had been affected from all the rain. There's so much to do so a really good plan of attack is in place to ensure we can keep costs within budget but make sure the house is safe and free from mould etc. Cyclone Gabrielle was terrible but it has bought the whole whānau a purpose to come together along with all the support of koha from the wider community. We are extremely grateful for everything and will update again at our next stage.

So far the crew have managed to clear out the house and assess the damages. The roof and walls probably had the worst damage, waterlogged walls and soaked floors have led to swelling and what we see is mould. Yesterday the crew managed to remove all the gib from the roof and all the old roofing nails and secure it with a giant tarpaulin incase of more rain. The house has been swept out and now awaits building materials to start construction and rebuild. We are so grateful for all the support coming in. Mum's safe at an Airbnb and is truly humbled by all the support. We appreciate every little bit. We will update when construction starts. Thanks all of you, we will get her there xo
