Help Renee Fight for Her Life

  • Additional update to 18 Oct

      20 October 2026

A few people have lovingly asked what the funds raised are actually going toward right now, especially given Renee hasn't yet been approved for her transplant yet. We want to be completely open with you, because every donation matters and you deserve to know exactly where it's going.

Right now, the funds are supporting two things: keeping Renee alive and as stable as possible while she works toward meeting the criteria to reapply for transplant in around a month, and supporting her recovery once she gets there.

    This includes:

    • Accommodation close to the medical centres where she needs regular procedures, including dialysis and paracentesis every few days

    • Transport to and from clinics and hospital appointments

    • Everyday essentials like food, clothing, and things to help keep her comfortable

    • Costs tied to completing what's required for her to reapply for the transplant

We know some of Renee's medical details are private and sensitive, and we hope you can understand and respect her right to keep those parts of her journey to herself. What we can tell you is that every dollar is going directly toward keeping her alive and giving her the best possible chance when the time comes.

Thank you for continuing to stand by her. 💛

  • OCTOBER 18 UPDATE

      19 October 2026

    Hi all,

I understand everyone is wanting updates as we all have Renee on our minds and in our hearts, but right now it’s quite hard to give the details on her situation as it’s super duper complex

She has been temporarily denied for a liver transplant due to a couple of factors currently outside of her control

This doesn’t mean a permanent “no”. It’s means she needs to reapply once she meets certain conditions and try again until they say “yes”.

Please know that all of your support goes an extremely long way, and is one of the biggest things helping Renee fight right now.

Renee will need regular paracentesis (fluid draining), and dialysis for the foreseeable future, then hopefully in a month or so she can reapply for a transplant

On behalf of Renee, Ziggy, all her amazing friends over in the US that are bending over backwards to help navigate Renee’s treatment, and all of the amazing people here that have done what you can to help - thank you

    Arohanui 🥰 🫶💜

If anyone has trouble donating, please send me a screenshot so I can troubleshoot with give-a-little support team

Good news and scary news… an update on Renee 💜

Starting with the good news, Renee is currently being admitted to UCLA Hospital for a full transplant assessment. Getting her admitted has been an incredibly hard road, some hospitals turned her away due to the complexity of her condition, some weren't covered by her insurance, and others simply didn't respond. Thankfully, UCLA, the hospital everyone was hoping for, has accepted her admission.

Before she's officially placed on the transplant list, she'll go through extensive testing and assessments. If approved, given the severity of her condition, she would be placed at the top of the list.

Now the scary news. Last night Renee was rushed to ICU after her kidneys began failing, and she needed urgent dialysis.

Renee is fighting for her life right now, and needs every bit of strength, love, thoughts and prayers we can send her.

Thank you to every single one of you for the support so far, it means the world to Renee, to Ziggy, and to all of her closest friends.

Thank you all for the love, support and donations so far, it means more than words to Renee's family right now.

There have been real highs this week. Renee had her catheter removed and has started learning to walk again. It's slow and tough, but she's improving daily.

It hasn't all been easy, recovery isn't a straight line. What's keeping her going is the people around her, her mum Ziggy, her best friends, family, and her care team.

One beautiful moment was a visit from her daughter Eden, spending precious time together in the hospital's Serenity Garden. Seeing Renee with Eden is exactly why we're doing this, to give her the chance to keep showing up for her daughter.

Some have lovingly asked what funds raised go toward. Renee's insurance doesn't cover everything, so donations help with:

    - Non-hospital food and comforts

    - Clothing, as she can no longer fit her old clothes

    - Accommodation/travel for family to be by her side

    - Holistic therapies supporting her recovery

In full transparency, if Renee isn't able to receive the transplant, remaining funds will go toward bringing her home to rest in New Zealand, her home, which is what she wants most. We're holding onto hope this isn't the road ahead, but wanted you to know exactly where your generosity goes, whatever questions arise.

This is a long road, and your support, donating or sharing, is genuinely giving Renee a chance to live!

Thank you for holding her in your hearts. 💛
