Help Roo Live a Pain-Free Life 🐾

I’m creating this fundraiser for my best friend Georgi and her beautiful dog, Roo, to help give him the pain-free life he deserves.

Georgi adopted Roo as a pup from an animal rescue in Nelson. From the beginning, Roo seemed like a calm, relaxed little soul — gentle and easygoing. But as time went on, Georgi noticed something wasn’t right. Especially in the evenings, Roo would cry inconsolably, and her instincts told her this wasn’t normal puppy behaviour.

After taking him to the vet, the heartbreaking diagnosis came: Roo has severe hip dysplasia in both hips, causing him constant pain.

Daily pain medication has helped manage his pain, and Roo has transformed — finally showing his true personality. Long-term painkillers are hard on his body and not a sustainable solution, especially for such a young dog. They are also a heavy financial burden for one person to manage alone.

Georgi has taken on multiple jobs and is working incredibly hard to save as much as she can herself, but it will take time — and Roo is urgently waiting for his surgeries.

The only long-term solution is two hip replacement surgeries, one for each hip, costing around $10,000 NZD each, plus aftercare.

We’re hoping to raise as much as we can to get closer to the amount needed. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help.
