Help Rose Compete in The National String Competition

Hi! I am delighted to have been selected as a semi-finalist in the NZ National String Competition 2024. Playing in this competition would be an amazing opportunity for me. However, as a self-supported student living overseas, I cannot afford to return to New Zealand to compete.

Competitions are vital for career development as a violinist. It is similar to a National level athelete - their career depends on their ability to attend and place in competitions.

I have placed in every national and international competition I have entered since 2019. It would be a great shame to miss out on New Zealand's largest string competition due to lack of funds. I work playing in orchestras and teaching violin to support myself while studying overseas. However, the costs of travelling internationally for this competition are far higher than what I can cover.

The competition is in Auckland and consists of an audition round (which I have already passed), two semi finals and 1 grand final. Opportunities for prize winners include performing as a soloist with the Auckland Philharmonia.

I wouldn't have the musical life I have now without the generous support of many scholarships, charitable organisations and friends. I look forward to being in a position in the future where I am able to give back to the communities who have supported me and to encourage young people to chase their dreams.
