Help Ruby, a sweet 1-year-old cat, recover from a hit-and-run injury and save her leg through urgent surgery.
Glenfield, Auckland
Our sweet girl Ruby was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
We rushed her to our local vet, where they noticed a clear tyre mark across her back. They said she was likely hit by an e-scooter or bike.
Ruby has a fractured hock joint and a broken calcaneus in her left hind leg. She couldn’t stand, and the pain she was in was heartbreaking. No animal should ever have to suffer like that.
The vet explained she must see an orthopedic specialist for surgery, or she could face lifelong disability. The only other option would be amputation. Ruby is only 1 year and 11 months old. She’s full of joy, endlessly playful, and one of the sweetest, most loving cats you’ll ever meet. She adores her older brother, and I just want her to be able to run and play with him again.
I want to do everything I can for Ruby, but I’m also caring for another senior cat with chronic IBD. The $1,674 in tests and over $5,000 for bone fracture, torn ligament repair, and aftercare is simply overwhelming for a full-time student. This sudden emergency has hit us so hard.
Even a small donation would make a huge difference. Your support could give Ruby a chance to keep her leg, walk without pain, and return to being the bright, happy little cat she is.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for helping her.
Ruby’s urgent orthopedic surgery to repair her fractured leg, as well as post-op care, medications, and vet bills.
