Raising funds to help Sadie, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, get life-changing surgery so she can finally run and play pain-free.
New Plymouth, Taranaki
Sadie, our sweet and gentle Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, has been battling severe luxating patella in both her hind legs since she was just 7 months old. At only 11 months, she underwent her first surgery. Her left leg was so damaged, the vet called it the worst case they’d ever seen.
Since then, Sadie has bravely endured multiple operations, countless vet visits, and over 6 months of strict crate rest, missing out on the joy of being a playful pup. Despite it all, her right leg remains at a serious grade 4, and her left leg is still at grade 2. She has lost significant muscle mass from being unable to move freely, and it breaks our hearts to see her struggle.
Sadie now needs invasive specialist surgery at Massey Vets in Palmerston North to give her a real shot at a pain-free future. She’ll require at least 12–16 more weeks of recovery and rehabilitation. Sadie is having that procedure done today (12/06/2025).
There is a high chance that this will also have to be done again on her left leg in the near future.
This Givealittle page is to help with both the past and upcoming surgery costs. We are doing everything we can, but your support, no matter how small, would mean the world to us and Sadie. Thank you for reading and for helping our girl get back on her paws. 💛🐶
Funds will go toward Sadie’s past and present patella surgeries and rehabilitation costs. Any amount helps relieve financial pressure.
Sadie is finally healing 9 August 2025
On Monday this week, we had a checkup at the specialists to see how Sadie was coming along. The vet is extremely happy with how Sadie is healing, and her patella is FINALLY riding true in the groove. Thank you for everyone’s support, it meant we were able to get the special attention and care Sadie needed. The vet predicts she will be able to be running freely in a few weeks time ❤️. At last, after 8 months of being in her crate, she can finally come out and live her happy life again.
