Help Sam get to LIYSF (a once in a life time opportunity)

Palmerston, Otago

Sam was recently made aware that he was accepted into a prestigious youth conference located in England called London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF). LIYSF accepts 500 applicants from across 70 countries to attend a 15 day STEM summer camp based in South Kensington at Imperial College and the Royal Geographical Society.

Sam is an active member of his school and wider community, he loves his Netball and has pursued umpiring in the later years. Sam has always been a dedicated academic but over the past year and a half we have seen a major shift in how Sam approaches his studies. He is more dedicated and passionate about achieving Excellence in anything he does. This mentality helped him to be awarded the top scholar for his year group in 2023. Sam loved yr 11 science and chose to take Physics and Biology this year at school, he has always been interested in human life and the workings of the body but towards the end of last year he found he had a passion for Physics, and understanding why things move the way they do.

As well as Physics and Biology he loves political sciences and incorporating that into making a difference for others.

Sam needs to raise $6,430 NZD to cover the course costs the cost of the current air fares are around $3,600 NZD this page is open to any donations to help towards him going on this once in a life time opportunity.

Help Sam Get To London  24 March 2024

We have met the initial goal of $1000 and have been deeply touched by the amount of people who have supported Sam so far.

Sam is continuing to search out other funding sources and selling firewood to work towards his ultimate goal of $10000. We have adjusted our goal on this website to better reflect a portion of costs which will still mean he has to work to raise $7000 dollars through firewood and other work efforts.

Thank you Jeni and Alan I’m looking forward to hearing how science has impacted different cultures in different ways this should be a great way to learn about that.
