Help me achieve a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the University of Oxford to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy.
Auckland
My name is Sarah Alley, and I have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the University of Oxford to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy. Oxford is one of the highest ranked universities in the world. Their selection process is extremely competitive and an acceptance to a Ph.D. program there is a significant accomplishment.
Specifically, for this upcoming academic year, my Department received hundreds of applications from around the world.
I was 1 of 31 students accepted.
In 2022-2023, Oxford reported a total of 26,497 students, but there were only 68 Kiwi students across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
My acceptance means I will be one of few Kiwi students representing New Zealand at the most prestigious university in the world.
Attending Oxford has been my dream since I was a child. My entire school career has been in pursuit of this dream, and I have worked very hard to earn this opportunity.
My academic research is interested in the social environment and international contexts represented in literature. I aimed to understand our shared intellectual history and how these ideas have influenced our world today.
My program at Oxford is three years. For my first year, the course fees and college costs are £38,020 (NZD $77,000).
I will be funding my doctorate with scholarships and grants, my personal savings, and working throughout my studies. However, I would appreciate any assistance that you could give.
Thank you so much for your help and support.
