Helping Rescues one dog at a time, starting with Cinnamon
Auckland
I dream of having land & facilities to help rehabilitate, train & rehome rescued dogs, but for now it's helping one by one. Currently my focus is on healing Cinnamon.
I studied animal behaviour at uni, and worked with NZ’s leading animal psychologist for a number of years before heading down a different path. The universe has been nudging me to get back to animals. Early this year I saw a Facebook post about a lost & scared dog — petrified of everything — cars, dogs barking, being outside, strangers, & more. No microchip, no details, and no one has claimed her.
The lady who caught her said she’d help with her care & rehome. I said I'd take her train her & rebuild her confidence, but I couldn't afford vet bills at this point in time. Famous last words, because Cinnamon has developed significant medical challenges & the arrangement made to share costs has fallen away. No judgement, I just want to get her through.
Cinnamon is very happy, loved by all who meet her, but the vet bills have been rolling in. She's had a tail injury, now healed. Rounds of antibiotics, dressing etc. She needs spaying & has a serious nasal issue - could be a foreign body, a fungal infection, or ...? She needs specialist diagnostics/treatment at VSA - quote $6674.14 → $7188.32.
I can't manage that right now, so am reaching out to see if TOGETHER we can help this sweet girl live a long & happy life. If you are in a financial position to help I am grateful for any contributions.

the tail that moves at the speed of light ;) 14 September 2025
Unfortunately Cinnamon continues to knock and split the wound on her tail - the vets warned it is incredibly hard to heal permanately. She has such a long and strong tail, and she LOVES to wag it ... so it is looking like she may need it docked. Such a hard decision to make but I know is sore. Next steps is to spay her and look at the tail surgery. Hoping to do this in the coming weeks now that she has been through her first season.
She's got heart, so thank you for helping her to get that chance to lead a full life.
We appreciate your kindness! C&A
