Help Save Fred (Oloniu Lefau) Hunkin: Urgent Transfer to Auckland for Cancer Treatment

Our beloved Fred (Oloniu Lefau), has recently received a devastating diagnosis: recto‑sigmoidal adenocarcinoma, a serious colorectal cancer with metastasis.

Many people know Fred for his kindness, humility and the quiet strength he brings to his family, work and community life. He is a gentle, unassuming soul who has always been there for others - now it's our turn to help him.

After becoming critically unwell in Samoa, he underwent an emergency laparotomy at TTM Hospital Motootua to confirm and stabilise his condition.

While this surgery has helped temporarily, the treatment he urgently needs is not available in Samoa. He needs immediate transfer to Auckland, New Zealand, for specialist oncology and surgical care, diagnostic imaging, and treatment planning.

This situation has placed an enormous emotional and financial strain on his family, especially his loving wife Nina and beloved daughter Siua. The costs associated with medical evacuation, hospital admission, oncology consultations, imaging, and ongoing treatment are far beyond what they can manage alone.

We are reaching out to our wider aiga, friends, and community to help us bring Fred to Auckland as quickly as possible. Every donation — no matter the size — brings us one step closer to giving him the chance he deserves.
