Help stop Auckland Council and the Ōrākei Local Board from banning dogs from Madills Farm Recreation Reserve
Kohimarama, Auckland
Auckland Council and the Ōrākei Local Board have proposed limiting dog access at Madills Farm, Kohimarama - prohibiting dogs from the playing fields at all times. As the playing fields make up the majority of the park, this is a de-facto ban on off-leash walking at Madills Farm. This park has been a vibrant shared community resource for many years, and these changes reduce it to little more than a single-purpose sports facility.
The council is currently accepting feedback submissions on this, and so I am attempting to organise a large public response to push back and help maintain Madills Farm as a shared space for dog walkers and sports players alike.
I have set up an advocacy website to inform people on the proposed changes and help organise against them. I am also funding an advertising campaign to reach people that might not know what is going on - this includes flyer & poster printing, online ads on social media, and more.
You can track the spending/use of funds related to the campaign here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1x1-rH8Utn7hKYzz0KCREJ8LKh36Ke1V_uqqcwXkDE1A/edit?usp=sharing
I’m a concerned resident that is part of a group that is rallying against the proposed changes
This will help me with the printing & online ad spend for our advertising campaign, as well as the general costs associated with hosting & maintaining the website. I have spent $750 so far, with more coming as the final date for giving feedback approaches.
