I have the privilege of attending UN Youth's Global Development Tour in 2019. This page is to fundraise to help me cover the delegate fee.

Manawatu / Whanganui

Kia Ora Friends, Family and generous strangers! My name is Olivia Hunt and I am a year 13 student and Palmerston North Girls’ High School. I have the absolute privilege of being selected alongside 21 other talented year 13 students to take part in UN Youth’s 2019 Global Development Tour.

The Global Development Tour (GDT) is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I cannot compare to any other. It gives students such as myself the opportunity to travel the world learning new things, particularly focused around the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Each SDG is an essential part of developing our world and bringing each nation towards a brighter, more sustainable future. In order to fully understand the importance of sustainability now and in our future, we will be travelling to seven different cities. Each city aligns with a theme relative to a SDG. The cities are New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Vienna and Hong Kong.

This provides us with an incredible opportunity to meet with NGO’s, policy makers and field experts, as well as an opportunity to represent New Zealand at the Columbia University Model United Nations and Columbia Exposition (CMUNCE). CMUNCE is a prestigious event that I am so excited to have the chance to simply attend, let alone represent New Zealand.

Full details and information about the tour can be found at UN Youth’s Facebook page:

For the last three years I have been delving in to the world of both domestic and international politics and as I move closer to the end of my high school career and into the new chapter of university life, I am taking on a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Political Science and International Relations. GDT will allow me to gain so much experience and knowledge relative to both my studies and future career plans. The chance to even experience what GDT has to offer is something that was once beyond my wildest dreams and I cannot wait to go.

Despite what Pinterest quotes will tell you however, many dreams do not come for free. I have worked incredibly hard to get selected for this tour, however the real work truly begins from this point onwards. The tour itself costs $8000. So many of you have helped me get this far, all I can ask from here on in is for your generous hearts to please help me out in covering the cost of this amazing opportunity. Every donation counts, no matter how big or small.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and to hopefully help me out, your generosity and support will forever be remembered.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
