HELP PETE AND ZOË

  • PETE IS HOME!

      11 September 2020
    Main image

Pete has been home now for a couple of weeks. Fragile, but improving day by day. He is taking anti seizure medication, which has taken away the awful headaches he was having. A few side effects to get through. Pete is booked for an MRI scan on Monday, and this will rule out anything structurally wrong. I will keep you updated.

  • Struggling Financially

      2 September 2020

With Pete now not able to work, we are struggling to keep up with living costs. We are one week behind in our rent now, which is $520. I have not been able to go to work because of everything going on with Pete. I need to start back at work as soon as possible, but our car I use to tow my coffee caravan needs another $700 worth of repairs to get a warrant. My rabbit Cara is at the vets, and in hospital for a week with a bladder infection, and the bill is up to $400.

  • THE EEG MONITOR IS OFF!

      29 August 2020
    Main image

In this photograph Petes skin has been affected by the glue which was used to stick all the electrodes on with. When they took each one off they tore the skin, and his skin bubbled as well, so he is a bit sore.

  • PETE COMING HOME!

      29 August 2020
    Main image

Today Pete was discharged from hospital, and could come home! The diagnosis was what’s called NES seizures which is short for Non Epileptic Seizures. So Pete does not have epilepsy, but the seizures he has experienced mimic an epileptic seizure. The monitor collected data that picked up muscle activity. So the doctor said the seizures he is experiencing could be from stress, or a traumatic experience. We all know know how stress can effect the body in so many ways. Next step is an MRI scan which will see anything structural such as tumours, etc. Pete is now taking anti seizure medication, and he is not permitted to drive for one year, which he is very disappointed about as he will not be allowed to drive a tractor either - so no going back to work, which is very sad.

  • SEIZURE ACTIVITY RECORDED

      28 August 2020
    Main image

Pete had a seizure last night, and his nurse found him on the bathroom floor. He has no injuries, and does not remember the seizure happening. The good thing is that because he is being monitored, the seizure activity will now have been recorded, and we shall have more information and some results back today, to know what is going on. I love you Pete. x

  • MONITORING TIME

      26 August 2020
    Main image

Pete is now in Dunedin Hospital, on the neurological ward attached to the monitor. He has been attached since 8am this morning, and it will run throughout the night. He is in his own, quiet room and in good spirits. I will visit him, and see if there are any results at 8am in the morning. Sleep well sweetheart. ❤️

  • Crazy!!!

      25 August 2020

What a crazy couple of weeks! Too much going on! Pete being unwell and having unexplained seizures. Dental surgery for me. Car repairs. I needed an eye test, because my driver’s license has expired, and I need new glasses. A sick pet rabbit. A blown head gasket on my car. It all happens a once...but I take a very deep breath...and I have to have faith that everything will be ok. Take just one day at a time. I’m looking forward to seeing Pete tomorrow at Dunedin Hospital.

This is my Pete, always smiling, always laughing. He is such a lovely husband, in so many special ways. It’s been so sad not to see him well, and so fragile these last couple of months. He has had such a rotten time. I love you Pete. I know you are scared. We will get through this sweetheart. ❤️

Pete is leaving Dunstan Hospital at 9am tomorrow morning, and travelling down by ambulance to Dunedin Hospital. He will be admitted to the neurological ward. We will be happy to get some answers, but I’m getting nervous now, as I don’t know what the MRI or the test results will show. I love my Pete so much. ❤️

  • DINNER TIME

      24 August 2020
    Main image

Not a good afternoon for Pete. There was too much noise going on in his room, and on the ward with visitors and the cleaner vacuuming. This brought on a severe and painful headache, and shaking which required pain medication, which stopped the pain and helped relax him, and helped him sleep. Now it’s dinner time, and he is much happier now being pain free.

  • PETE UPDATE

      23 August 2020
    Main image

Pete eventually woke from the deep seizure he had, but only for approximately 10 minutes. Still in post seizure, he fell into a deep sleep and the nurse could not wake him, so the moved him into the high dependency ward to keep monitoring him. The doctor is now going to put him anti convulsion medication. Lyz and Peter drove to the hospital, for support and brought me home. Thank you so much. Wish I could of stayed at the hospital with Pete. I miss you Pete. ❤️

  • ANOTHER SEIZURE

Pete is in hospital again, he had another seizure in the early hours of Saturday morning. One week ago he had a seizure, so they are getting more frequent. 😮 Still waiting for an appointment with the neurologist and an MRI scan. Hoping appointment won’t be too far away, as there is a bit of a waiting list.
