When Shane wakes up in a few hours, they will be off to the airport to fly from Berlin to Dresden.

They have enjoyed an amazing couple of days walking around, seeing sights, but excited to get to the main event.

Thanks again to all of you for the donations, it's because of YOU that Shane is here.

  • Update for you all

      27 July 2025

    Hello friends, family and supporters

Not long until this officially closes, so has reminded us we must send out an update. We have received all required funds for Shane to get to the games, so please DO NOT donate any more.

A huge, HUGE THANK YOU to our amazing friends, family and even people we don't know, who have donated, without you this would NOT have been possible.

Shane and Dad leave in just over 2 weeks. I'm sad I'm not able to go as well but I'll hold the fort at home and make sure everyone gets updates while he is over there. Would love it if you can all keep me busy while he's away as well.

Only 9 days until the official 20 year mark 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

If you want updates while he's away, please add Keryn Leger on Facebook.

  • Long overdue update

      14 May 2025

In exactly 3 months, Shane be arriving in Dresden a few days before the games 😍 he is noticing the effects of the stent put in and doing really well as he heads towards the 20 year mark!

Sorry for the lack of updates, we are still trying to save, fundraise and prepare for the games, but have been quite distracted as well with other personal things happening behind the scenes and I've become busy with football and my own health and fitness journey.

Shane has been working 3-4 days a week on the truck at work, it has disrupted training somewhat and aggravating a shoulder injury BUT it helps pay the bills and save towards his spending $ for the trip.

He has bought a lighter shotput and discus so that he can refine his technique a bit more. He is trying to go to the gym AND a walk most days on top of the physical side at work.

We had planted some seeds to help fundraise, but the cucumbers didn't work out, we will have some jalapeño seedlings and some pretty flowers if anyone is interested. If you have donated you don't need to pay for them xx

Thanks and heaps of love back to you all 🥰❤️

  • Thanks to you all yet again xo

      27 February 2025

Some of the donations have brought us to tears, we can't believe how many people are so keen to support Shane. Sorry I haven't been able to update you all.

    Flights are booked!

Discus and shotput for training are ordered!

Still waiting on the surgery for the stents but until then Shane has been working on our truck at work earning some extra $ for spending.

    Thanks again everyone!

  • Check up done & dusted

      16 February 2025

Sorry for the delayed update guys. We had meant to post on Wednesday when Shane got the all clear from the cardiologist at Greenlane, but had a few things come up and hadn't really known what to write.

Shane has some narrowing in an artery in his heart so has to have a stent put in within the next week or two. We are all prepared to head back up to Auckland with just a day or two notice!

This will probably explain the tiredness and lethargy that Shane has been feeling for a while and it's a great time to get it out of the way! We will be up, back and recovered before IVF meds start on 28th Feb. Despite a break in training, it's great that he's having it now in the early days and not a few months down the line so it won't affect his trip to the games - in fact he might feel better.

Thanks to all of you for the love, support and kindness ❤️

  • Update before we share the page

      26 January 2025

Shane has locked in the trip with my amazing father as his support person. They will be registering in the next day or two.

I have discovered the amount I put as the goal won't cover everything but is a huge amount to get to so will hope we get close to that.

Shane has started training already and has lost close to 5kg in a few months. He is booked for his check up at Greenlane in 2 weeks including an angiogram to make sure everything is looking good in advance.

Over the next few weeks, Shane will be looking to purchase his equipment so that he can train and practice for his specific events. He plans to do Longjump, Discuss and Shotput.
