Despite being born with challenges with all of your support, let’s help Shenaragh get to her dance destination.
Gonville, Whanganui
Shenaragh was born with cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegia, plus asthma and epilepsy. From her first breath, life presented her with challenges most of us will never know. But her spirit is unbreakable and a smile that shines pure joy.
9 years ago while dancing in her wheelchair, she was noticed by a man from the United States who runs Latin dance congresses and competitions worldwide. Moved by her performance, he invited her to Miami to show the world what’s possible. This inspired him to create new competition category called “Limitless” giving dancers of all abilities a chance to share the stage with the best in the world. Shenaragh has helped change the world of dance.
These life-changing events come at a cost. Her family saves for years, holds raffles, fundraisers and applies for grants—to make these trips happen. This is to be the most special trip yet—not just for Shenaragh, but for her brothers and sister too, who would finally get to see her perform on the world stage. Her whānau had raised the funds. Everything was set. Then tragedy stuck. Six weeks ago $35,000 was stolen from Shenaragh’s account by the signatory the whānau trusted. This money was the result of hard work. Her family is pursuing legal action, but that will take time. Shenaragh’s trip is at the end of July. Every day that passes, the opportunity of a lifetime is slipping away.
We need your help, from any donations to sharing this post.
Shenaragh is not asking for a miracle, just a chance.
I met Shenaragh last year while on a Rongoā course with her mum Cheryl. Shenaragh ended up being our class ambassador. Bringing joy with her wherever we went.
Funds collected will hopefully help recoup most of the missing money. Making it possible for the whole whānau to witness Shenaragh shine on stage.
Many thanks ☺️
