Help Sherry and Her Son Stay Together in New Zealand

  • Fixed update.

      17 July 2025

Thank you all for donating. I have lodged the immigration tribunal appeal. It was due before July 23.

The fee went up to $945, its no longer $910.

I still have estate lawyer fees to deal with so I'll wait for that bill because I don't if I have enough to cover immigration adviser fees, estate lawyer fees and the possibility of me having to get ready for deportation. I still have to get Caidyn's citizenship papers and Canadian passport for just in case.

I'll post a update soon as I can.

  • Helping My Son Stay in the Only Home He’s Ever Known

      8 July 2025

    🛒 Update:

As part of my effort to raise funds, I’ve started selling personal and household items — including some that were left behind after Brad passed away. Many of these items carry sentimental value, and letting go of them has been incredibly hard. But I’m doing everything I can to cover urgent legal and immigration costs so that my son and I can stay together in New Zealand.

Some financial support that could have helped Caidyn is no longer available, but I remain focused on securing a stable and loving future for him as his sole legal guardian and primary caregiver.

Caidyn is a New Zealand citizen. He has special needs and has already endured more than any child should — from witnessing family harm to losing his father. New Zealand is the only home he has ever known.

This fundraiser is not just about paperwork. It’s about keeping a little boy safe, stable, and surrounded by the only world that feels familiar to him.

Every donation, share, or kind message helps more than you know. Thank you for standing with us. 💛

  • Why am I fundraising instead of just getting a job?

      2 July 2025

I understand this question. Right now, there are barriers:

We are recovering from family violence. I’m on a Victim of Family Violence work visa, and appealing to the Immigration and Protection Tribunal after my residency application was declined.

My mental health has been affected by trauma and legal processes.

My visas are short-term (six months), making stable medical care hard to access.

I’m the full-time caregiver for my son with additional needs. I cannot get the Disability Allowance or respite support because of my visa.

My ex-partner’s passing has complicated things in Family Court, despite a final parenting order issued in March 2025.

My long-term goal is to raise my son in New Zealand, per my ex-partner’s final wishes. I hope to get my driver’s license, a car, retraining, a job, and proper health and support services for us — which we’ve been denied because of my visa status.

My son is a New Zealand citizen and deserves a secure, stable future.

Your support truly makes a difference while I work toward safety, stability, and residency.

  • My immediate Goal

      1 July 2025

My immediate goal is to raise $910 to cover the appeal fee by 23 July, with any additional funds helping with legal support costs.
