Help a mum and her 5-year-old son stay together in NZ by supporting legal costs to appeal their residency
Stoke, Nelson
My young son, Caidyn, is a New Zealand citizen, and I am his sole caregiver. We have built our lives here, and New Zealand is the only home he knows.
Caidyn is almost 5 years old. He has sensory processing difficulties, asthma, a speech delay, and a history of febrile seizures. He has also experienced trauma from witnessing family harm and from the sudden loss of his father, who passed away in April 2025 at the age of 33.
I separated from my ex-partner in January 2024 after experiencing family harm, and we signed a final parenting order two weeks before he passed away. I have been living in New Zealand since May 2019, making it our home for the past several years.
Since my ex-partner’s unexpected passing, We have continued to experience family difficulties impacting our wellbeing. After years of immigration uncertainty, We now are facing the risk of being forced to leave New Zealand. New Zealand is our home and it's in my son's best interest that we stay in NZ.
I urgently need to appeal my resident visa decision, but I cannot afford the legal costs on my own. In the last year, I also lost my mother, adding to our grief and challenges. I am mentally and emotionally exhausted. I just want to stay in New Zealand with my son and give him the stability, safety, and support he needs to thrive.
Your support will help cover the legal fees to lodge an appeal and keep our family together.
Any donation, no matter how small, means the world to us. TYVM 4 helping us stay safe and call NZ home.
Funds will cover legal fees to appeal my resident visa, ensuring my son and I can stay together safely in New Zealand with stability and support and other possible immigration fees if declined.
Fixed update. 17 July 2025
Thank you all for donating. I have lodged the immigration tribunal appeal. It was due before July 23.
The fee went up to $945, its no longer $910.
I still have estate lawyer fees to deal with so I'll wait for that bill because I don't if I have enough to cover immigration adviser fees, estate lawyer fees and the possibility of me having to get ready for deportation. I still have to get Caidyn's citizenship papers and Canadian passport for just in case.
I'll post a update soon as I can.
Thank you very much
