Help Simon "Eason" Pang battle ALS and support his family during their unimaginable struggle. Your kindness can make a difference! #FightALS
Auckland
At just 36 years old, my brother Simon "Eason" Pang was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of motor neuron disease, MND/Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This cruel illness has stolen so much from him: in just six months, he went from a vibrant, active individual to being confined to a wheelchair. He lost his ability to speak and use his hands, and we never had the chance to record his voice. Now, he communicates only through eye movements with advanced technology.
Simon moved to Japan with his wife in search of better treatment, leaving family and friends in New Zealand behind. The heartbreaking reality is that he may never return; travelling by air is impossible while on portable ventilation.
Two years after his diagnosis, Simon faced the agony of choking on his own saliva, feeling like he was drowning. An induced coma was necessary for a tracheostomy—a lifesaving procedure that would not have been available to him in New Zealand. Despite these challenges, Simon remains hopeful, and determined to keep fighting.
Recently, his wife was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and will undergo surgery this month. Their journey has become an unimaginable struggle, but your donations can provide Simon with some much-needed freedom and help ease their financial strain.
Together, we can support Simon and his family during this dark time. Your generosity means the world to us. Thank you for standing with Simon in this fight.
My little brother has always been my closest companion, and watching him battle ALS is truly heartbreaking. It's painful to see someone so vibrant face this cruel disease. His spirit remains strong, but I wish we could reclaim the life we once knew.
Funds will help Simon's medical treatments, daily care assistance, travel costs for his wife, and emotional support services. Your generosity will help this family find hope and comfort during an incredibly challenging time.
