Sophia now requires unfunded drugs for the BEACON trial, costing $12,000 to $15,000 per month.

Thank you to everyone who donated to Sophia’s first Give a Little page, you might recall this was to help with expenses during Sophia’s last few weeks with her husband and 3 children, such as simple living costs while her husband was looking after her and then of course her funeral. Instead of a funeral, however, alongside living costs, the funds contributed to the ongoing use of, and eventually the purchase of a Rife machine, which has been crucial in managing her tumors, allowing her to spend precious time with family.
After her diagnosis, Sophia prepared for the inevitable, planning her funeral and writing cards for her children's future milestones. Tragically, after 2weeks her bowel ruptured, leaving her with a tough choice: risky surgery or a peaceful end. She chose to fight, undergoing a successful stoma surgery, but faced inadequate hospital follow-up and support, leading to pain and frustration.
On October 23rd, Sophia underwent chemotherapy, but was readmitted on the 25th with what was initially thought to be a bowel obstruction. After 4days on a drip and a gastroscopy, we received good news: her bowel was functioning well.
However, the cancer has progressed & Sophia now needs unfunded drugs (the drugs are Dabrafenib & Cetuximab) BEACON trial, costing $12k to $15k per month. While some funds remain, they are insufficient for this life-saving treatment. We are reaching out once more for your generosity to help keep this amazing woman with us for as long as possible.
Long time friend
Funds will be going to the unfunded BEACON trial (Dabrafenib & Cetuximab) which is $12,000-$15,000 a month
Change to medication 12 December 2024
We have changed from Encorafenib, Binimetinib and Cetuximab to Dabrafenib and the Cetuximab. Specialists advised that Dabrafenib is very similar to Encorafenib except it is cheaper and has more side effects. If we had of gone with Encorafenib the cost would been 1.5-2x more than the initial $80,000.
Binimetinib also costs and was an option for Sophia however some trials that tested its efficacy found there was only a very small, statistically insignificant improvement by using it as well.
