Help ease the financial burden faced by a hardworking, kind and caring family struck by tragedy in Labour weekend crash.

Northland

Labour weekend is a time to reunite with whanau and friends. Stacey was doing just that with family unveiling and a reunion in Northland.

To beat the traffic, she left Sunday evening, headed homebound for Auckland with her 3 young boys in tow. Her husband eagerly awaiting his family's return. He cooked them a special dinner - Labour weekend is also their wedding anniversary.

At approximately 7:35pm a reckless driver crashed into them at high speed when he lost control of his vehicle. Initial reports suggest he was speeding through the small township of Moerewa at 200kms+ (with a speed limit of 50kms). Eye witnesses to the accident say the driver was seen driving recklessly and overtaking. The force of his vehicle hitting their vehicle forced it 30 metres into a nearby paddock. His rear passenger flew out through the windscreen onto their vehicle.

With no regards to his own passengers or Stacey & the 3 boys - the driver fled the scene.

Stacey and Liam both were choppered to Auckland hospital in critical condition. The extent of her injuries is astronomical. She has a long long recovery ahead of her. Liam sustained a massive head injury, his life spared by travelling securely in his car seat.

The 2 older boys were transported to Whangarei with moderate injuries. Whangarei hospital is a 3 hour drive to Auckland hospital. 4 family members, 1 crash, 3 different hospitals.

Bianca Wilson's involvement (page creator)

On behalf of the family, with their blessing, I have created this page. My name is Bianca, and I am a 1st cousin of Stacey's.

They are a hardworking family, who are always there to help others, uplift those in need and are just really good people. They are dedicated to their family and friends. This tragic event has changed the lives of so many good people.

Use of funds

Our main goal is to help family members with travel and accommodation assistance. With family members in 3 different hospitals (Whangarei, Auckland Hospital & Starship). A distance of 165kms between them, and a lot of miles will be travelled.

We have family and friends who were wanting to send koha to help with the care of our whanau members. It enabled family from overseas to share their love and gift of koha
