Raising funds to allow Lara and Jay to spend as much time as possible with Baby Ivy while she is still here.
Auckland
After a long and difficult labour, Ivy May Judson was born in the early hours of Sunday 11 April 2021. Unfortunately, little Ivy was unresponsive at birth and had to be immediately transferred to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), with her parents Lara and Jay following shortly behind. For the next week, Lara and Jay knew that something wasn't right with their little girl. A number of tests were carried out, and ten days after Ivy's birth, doctors told Lara and Jay that Ivy had a very rare genetic disorder called Peroxisome Biogenesis disorder.
Tragically, there is no cure for this disorder. The doctors are not able to give an accurate estimation of how long little Ivy will live, but her life expectancy is likely to be only a matter of months. Lara, Jay and their families are absolutely heartbroken that they will only have Ivy in their lives for such a short amount of time. Understandably, they want to be able to spend as much precious time as they can with their beautiful daughter while she is here. That's why we need your help.
Rebekah is the cousin of Baby Ivy's mum, Lara.
The funds raised will be used to maximise the time that Lara and Jay can spend with their daughter. In particular, the money will cover travelling to and from hospital twice a day, parking and Lara and Jay's everyday expenses while they are off work.
