A much-loved Queenstown local, bravely facing Triple Negative Breast Cancer after a lifetime of giving back to her community.
Otago, Queenstown Lakes District
Shazza has been a familiar face around Queenstown for over 30 years – a true local with a heart of gold.
After the sudden loss of her husband Barrie in 2021, her world seemed to fall apart. With the love and support of her son Jared and a close circle of friends, she slowly found her way forward again. But earlier this year, Shazza was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
While waiting for treatment, the cancer spread to her clavicle. Thankfully, she is responding well to chemotherapy, but doctors have advised her to stop work and rest in preparation for major surgery in October. If all goes well, she still won’t be able to return to work until at least February next year.
Shazza has spent years giving back to the community – from fundraising for local causes and charities, to shaving her own head in support of the Cancer Society. Now, it’s our turn to support her.
Holiday and sick leave can only stretch so far. We are asking for financial help to ease the pressure during this incredibly tough time, allowing Shazza to focus on healing without the added stress of bills and expenses.
Every little bit counts, and your kindness will make a world of difference.
