Help Support Toma’s Recovery from a brain aneurysm ❤️🩹
Howick, Auckland
Toma is a loving dad of three, a partner, step-dad, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is also an amazing teacher who loves his job and his students. But unfortunately, Toma had a life-changing medical event.
On Monday, 25th August, around 10 pm, Toma suffered a sudden brain aneurysm. Before the ambulance arrived, he experienced two seizures, and the left side of his body stopped functioning. He was sedated, intubated, and rushed to Auckland Hospital.
A CT scan revealed a ruptured aneurysm that caused an 8cm bleed. Toma was admitted to the ICU, where he underwent two major brain surgeries across seven hours on Tuesday. The surgeons worked to stop the aneurysm bleed and remove the blood that had seeped into his temporal lobe.
Toma remained in an induced coma until Thursday, 28th August, when doctors were able to stop the sedation and remove his breathing tube.
The three weeks following a ruptured aneurysm are considered a very high-risk period, so we are taking things day by day. The family is deeply grateful for all the love, support, and prayers that have been pouring in for Toma and his recovery. ❤️
Any donation, big or small, will help ease the financial pressures during this difficult time. Whilst the family has some leave available through their work, it is anticipated that recovery will take several months and may result in loss of income for some time. Funds will go towards supporting the family financially, allowing them to focus fully on Toma’s recovery.
Toma is my mum's partner, and I am the step-daughter who lives in the same home, along with my brother and Toma's daughter, Georgia.
