A tiny kitten trapped, left to suffer, and now fighting for a pain-free future — help Sura heal after losing her leg.
Northland
Sura is only 9 weeks old.
When this happened, she was barely six weeks.
When she was finally found, this tiny kitten was crying out for help — yet the moment she was picked up, she began to purr and lean in for pats. All she wanted was comfort.
By then, Sura had already lost her leg.
This was not a sudden accident.
We now understand this injury was known about and no veterinary care was sought.
She is believed to have lived with a crushed, dying limb for at least a week.
The injury was caused by a trap.
A baby kitten, caught in a trap, left to suffer.
Sura’s surgery was touch and go. Thanks to the incredible team at Bay of Islands Vets, she made it through a full amputation and now has the chance at a pain-free life.
She is now safe in foster care, warm, loved, and healing.
Her emergency treatment and surgery will cost around $2,000.
We are in the middle of kitten season with 116 cats and kittens in care and new arrivals every day. We simply can’t do this alone.
Sura deserves a future without pain.
She deserves to grow up.
