Help sponsor life-changing OCD treatment for a young Kiwi. One in 50 New Zealanders has OCD with almost no specialist care available
Nationwide
We're raising funds to provide OCD treatment for young New Zealanders, and support the roll out of a game-changing intensive treatment in NZ.
Meet T
T is 22. They should be living life, but instead spend 6-8 hours daily trapped in OCD rituals. Intrusive harm thoughts terrorise them: What if I hurt someone? Leaving the house takes hours. They've lost jobs, friendships, years of their life.
T isn't real, but represents real 1 in 50 New Zealanders living with OCD - a disorder the World Health Organisation has ranked among the top 10 most debilitating conditions worldwide. This isn't the "I'm a bit OCD" people joke about. This is devastating.
The Problem
OCD is treatable but there's almost no specialist OCD treatment in New Zealand. Thousands suffer without access to evidence-based care.
The Solution
In January, world-renowned Bergen Four Day Treatment (B4DT) experts are coming to NZ to treat young people aged 18-25 and train local psychologists. This intensive therapy achieves in four days what traditional treatment takes months to accomplish.
Why We Need You
Without government support, treatment is user-pays. But severe OCD often means people can't work or afford help. $6,300 sponsors one young New Zealander to access this life-changing treatment and finally break free.
But you're not just helping one person. You're training NZ psychologists, contributing to NZ research that might help get this in the public system and building a future where young Kiwis with OCD aren't forgotten.
Open Closed Doors is a new charity which supports New Zealanders with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Next year we are introducing the game-changing Bergen four-day OCD treatment to NZ.
A scholarship for one fully-funded spot in the January Bergen Four Day Treatment programme for a young Kiwi with severe OCD. This covers intensive specialist therapy and follow-up care. Partial funds will reduce costs for participants or support ongoing OCD treatment in NZ.
