The New Zealand Youth Choir brings the best young singers together to perform at the highest level, and share that with the world.
Our 50 singers from across the motu have been rehearsing for 2 years, and are excited to take our music to the world in 2025. NZYC will compete in Aarhus, Denmark, for the Grand Prix of Nations before returning to the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, where we previously won 'Choir of the World' in 1999.
Presenting our talent overseas is a unique and life-changing experience for our singers and brings great mana for our country when we compete against the best choirs in the world.
Our singers contribute to the flight and travel costs and for some that is more difficult than others. That is why we are reaching out to you to support our EQUITABILITY FUND. That fund will ensure that no singer is left behind and we can stand tall on the world stages of choral music, and share stories of Aotearoa with the world.
We showcase the breadth of musical culture and history that comes from Aotearoa. We are taking a new waiata from composer Tuirina Wehi on this tour. The last time we toured to Europe in 2016, we sang Tuirina's 'Waerenga-a-Hika' (arr. Robert Wiremu), and won the GRAND PRIX at the 2016 IFAS in the Czech Republic. You can relive the exact performance in Pardubice here!

NZYC is becoming a household name across Aotearoa. We perform across NZ, often visiting schools, engaging in outreach activity, and performing in National events like ANZAC and Waitangi Day commemorations.
Choirs Aotearoa NZ Trust manages three national choirs, an academy choir, and perform outreach activity throughout the country.
Proceeds will go towards an equity based hardship fund for our singers, and direct support to international touring costs.
