Help Teddy to get his legs fixed
Northland
Teddy is one of many Toy Poodles the Doolittle's have rescued over the years and he as many are, became a foster failure. He has been adopted by one of our long-term supporters who fell in love with him. He was fully vet examined on arrival, and was clinically underweight with no muscle mass, requiring nutritional rehabilitation and exercise before he was fit to be desexed, the fosterer, now the new owner took on this care for him. Teddy last week went in for desexing, and x-rays as the owner was concerned about his legs. Unfortunately, we got the devastating news that he has grade 2-3 bilateral luxating patella's, requiring surgery within 6-8 weeks or he could risk collapse of his back legs. This was upsetting to the new owner as she adopted a rescue dog from another animal rescue over a year ago and was left with a $5k bill for similar surgery, as the condition was not disclosed on adoption. Teddy is so immensely loved, and we have promised that we as a rescue will cover the costs of this surgery as this is our responsibility, but we really need your help to make this happen, as we are facing a $4500-$5000 vet bill. We are fortunate to have the amazing Charles Barnard doing the surgery at Phoenix Animal Wellness, so we know Teddy is getting the best orthopedic care he can. The new owner is dedicated to the months of rehabilitation post-surgery, and I (Donna) will support Teddy with a tailored rehabilitation plan, to speed up recovery so Teddy can start using those legs asap
