Donna Doolittles, is a non-profit animal rescue organization, working to improve the lives of animals within the Far North community.
Northland, Far North District
Donna, as the founder of the rescue, works fulltime as a senior veterinary nurse and operates a team of volunteers who work around the clock with veterinary care, administration, fostering, adopting, community education & assistance, desexing and microchip campaigns. The rescue work is endless. A Facebook page is used to allow people to join our journey and have access to message 24/7 for assistance, where every endeavour is made to help if possible. Supporters are highly valued and are seen as part of the Doolittles family as they are so important to the ongoing work being done.
We do see some horrific situations that break our heart, but equally, it's rewarding work when we see the pictures and stories that come from the new families that our animals are now a part of.
The biggest challenges for the team are financial constraints which are extreme. Food, shelter, operating costs and veterinary care. We rely heavily on donations, fundraising and grant applications to continue to rescue the hundreds of animals every year that make their way to the rescue through surrender, neglect, abandonment and illness.
