This page is to help 17 year old Nelson swimmer Tegen Stewart get to the World Junior Open Championships in Argentina this September.
Nelson
Tegen is in her final year at Nelson College for Girls & trains with the Nelson South Swimming Club. Tegen has been training & Competing in the pool, since she was 11 years old. under head coach, Glen Findlay Tegen has dominated long distance swimming in her age group. last November Under Glen & PT Isaac Takarangi, Tegen made the transition from a pool distance specialist to an open water powerhouse & has been instrumental in Tegen's journey to selection for the New Zealand team.
Tegen is supported by her Nelson south team, & five brothers all of whom are proud of her. However, it's not the coach, the team mates or the siblings that pay the fees & costs associated at this level of athleticism. Tegen's hardworking parents, Joanne & Glenn have been instrumental in getting Tegen where she is. Tegen herself has had a job since she was 13 at Sweet as Cafe to help pay her way
Representing New Zealand at a World Championship is the honor of a lifetime, but international sporting campaigns in NZ are largely self-funded. The cost of flights to South America, accommodation, team uniforms, coaching support, & event fees adds up to thousands of dollars. For this hard working family, this financial mountain is too high to climb alone. Joanne & Glenn are doing everything they can, taking on extra shifts wherever possible. With the demands of training & school work Tegen can't possibly take on any more hours
Every single dollar helps. & gets Tegen a little bit closer to Argentina.
Im her very cool uncle
the purpose of this page is to raise money for Tegen to get to Argentina if enough money is raised. hopefully Glenn &/or Joanne to travel with her to Argentina.
