Raising money to help the Fransch family rebuild their home after a devastating fire
Canterbury
A couple of weeks ago the Fransch family home caught fire, a freak accident caused by a faulty toaster. Cheryl was the only one home at the time, and she thankfully got out unhurt, but the fire destroyed the house and everything inside.
Cheryl and Michael, who both work two jobs to make ends meet, have found a place to live in the meantime, but they now face the daunting task of rebuilding their home and trying to replace all that they have lost. While insurance is currently covering rent payments for their temporary accommodation, this amount will come out of their final settlement. The Fransch family also continue to make mortgage payments for their uninhabitable house. With the constant rise in building costs it is clear that insurance alone will not be enough to cover the unavoidable costs of demolition, removal, rent, and a rebuild to the same standard of the old house. All donations will go straight to Cheryl and Michael, to be spent on whatever they need to make the process of rebuilding slightly easier.
17 years ago Cheryl, Michael, Keagan and Chelseigh emigrated from Zimbabwe to New Zealand, with two suitcases each holding all their belongings in the world. They have made Timaru their home and built a life for themselves, and 10 years ago they had saved enough to buy a house of their own. Years of hard work have filled this house not just with belongings but with memories, and this is an unspeakable loss for them. Cheryl and Michael are no strangers to hard work and they know more than most about starting a new life from scratch, but being forced to do it all again 17 years later is a formidable challenge. Any assistance you can offer to them at this time will be greatly appreciated.
I'm a longtime friend of Cheryl & Michael's daughter, Keagan.
All money raised will go to Cheryl & Michael to cover costs associated with the rebuild of their home and repurchasing of destroyed belongings.
Thank you from the Fransch family 4 February 2021
Hello, this is just a short message to express our most sincere thanks to you for your kindness in donating to our page and supporting our family as we deal with this tragedy. The past year has been unspeakably difficult for everyone around the world, no matter their circumstance, and so we are truly humbled that you took the time to care for us in this way. Your support has been such a beacon of hope in this very dark storm, and while words will never properly express our thanks, please know that you have it, now and always. While it may be a little late for new year wishes, we nonetheless wish you a year filled with love, blessings, and the kindness you have so freely shared with us. Thank you.
