Well everyone, my fund raiser is going to close next month, but I wanted to give one little shout out to a great organisation started and run by an Australian vet in Cairo, using her own money and the donations you gave along with those from other generous souls. Please follow this org and give them whatever you can, it will always 100% got to those in need and sadly there are so many :( Remember don't use animals on your vacation and hopefully, I pray that this govt sanctioned abuse at the pyramids will end one day :( Thank you all!

Special thanks to you Susan, you have bought this to our attention and without your care & concern we would not be aware of the terrible neglect and treatment that these animals suffer on a daily basis. My donations will continue when they can. May there be positive changes in 2024.

  • Goal Update

      9 December 2023

I have changed the goal update as raising 20k was obviously too optimistic. Unfortunately, I just don't have that kind of reach :( sadly, but perhaps 5k is doable. I can't ask people close to me for anymore money, so I hope people with kind hearts come across this funding page and are eager to be part of our success. Thank you!

  • Giving Your Donations

      24 September 2023

Hi Everyone, Together we have done an incredible thing raising over $1k NZD. And I am writing to let you know that shortly we will pass these hard-earned dollars onto a very worthy recipient. If you are interested in taking part in the handover please let me know. I may be able to arrange for you to be online with us when it happens. Either way I will be recording it and then posting the video to this page for all to see. Stay tuned for the next update :) Email me if you'd like to know more.

Please continue your support and good news ... We have had a response from the Minister of Tourism's Office. Please help too, by taking just a few minutes to ask that the horses (and camels) be banned from this torturous trade in tourists' pleasure. How is it justifiable that animals are allowed to be treated this badly in the name of tourism??? I am astounded! Please read the email I received.

  • Again it has happened!

It's summer in Egypt and horses are left without food and water standing and working in 50 degree heat all day long. Their lifespan is barely 6 months. Can you believe that? A HORSE lives just 6 months! And here is how they often end with ignorant tourists in the carriage the horse drops dead - well almost - but can no longer pull another second, it's heartbreaking. Please give what you can and write to the minister for tourism and beg for this govt sanctioned cruelty inside a tourist complex be ended! minister@mota.gov.eg

Hi Everyone, always many thanks coming to you for helping these poor horses. A horse I impulsively bought to save it from a certain death has recovered fairly well. It's thanks to your support that this work can continue. This is just one of the many that your donations will be saving. Note the healing.

I'm so pleased that healing is happening for this horse Susan but there are so many other horses who need medication and care from educated caring people who can teach these people the right way to treat horses and animals in general. May your positive work continue and you are one very special caring person who actually does matter to these horses.

Cheers for the interaction Debbie. Yes, there are so many. And Egypt just had a week-long national holiday where I was told on average 6 horses a day die due to neglect, injuries, lack of water and food, the heat and working 20 hours a day! The situation is horrendous, so we ask that everyone always carries the message - do NOT use the horses at the Pyramids.

  • Many Thanks :)

I just wanted to give a HUGE shout out to everyone who has helped so far. You can be certain that your dollars will be used wisely. I want to share another picture of horses that have been utterly abused at the world's greatest tourist site. Remember if you go to Egypt or anyone you know goes, please tell them NOT TO USE ANY HORSES at the pyramids. Image by Egypt Equine Aid - an org I'm keen to learn more about.

Hi All, I want to thank you all SO very much for all the donations that have come in so far. It's really humbling. We do still have a long way to go though, so please share this cause with your friends and family, especially if they have been to Egypt or are intending to go. We certainly do not want anyone using these horses on a trip to Egypt. This image is from some contacts doing wonderful work with the pyramid horses, and by supporting our fundraiser here you are also supporting them. It has occurred to me that joining forces will make us stronger and more effective. If you can't donate for whatever reason, perhaps you'd like to write to the Minister of Tourism? He needs to hear from you: minister@mota.gov.eg and request that he make his legacy the removal of pyramid horses and instead replace them with ticketed minibuses that run the route around the pyramid complex.
