Help the Flying Octopi compete in the international finals of Tournament of Minds!

Royal Oak, Auckland

Kahu, Daisy, Shea, Ollie, Arlo, Louie and Lily are the diverse and talented kids that make up the Flying Octopi - a Tournament of Minds team from Royal Oak Intermediate. After winning the National finals in Wellington they are on their way to Melbourne to compete in the TOM international finals. We hope you can help us to get them there!

What is Tournament of Minds? TOM is a problem solving competition for all primary and secondary students. The Flying Octopi compete in the STEM discipline - science, technology, engineering and math. In competitions they have 3 hours, without any adult help, to solve a STEM problem they have not seen before and to creatively communicate their solution to a judging panel all the while demonstrating their STEM expertise. You can imagine the team work, creative and divergent thinking, communication and emotional intelligence needed to compete!

A big THANK YOU to all you amazing supporters who've pitched in to help our awesome team Flying Octopi get to Melbourne. 🙌 They've been working hard to raise the funds they need for take-off!

You might have spotted the team outside Countdown Onehunga selling sausages. The support from our local community has been incredible. 🎪 This weekend, the team is gearing up for Ambury Park Car Boot sale with a treasure trove of second-hand goodies waiting for new homes. Come by, pick up your own octopus mascot and say hello! Plus, for all you green-thumbed garden enthusiasts, they've got the hottest commodity in town – horse poo! 🐴💩 Your gardens will thank you! We can even deliver!

You can help us even more by sharing our link with your fantastic networks. 👥💪 We're talking Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, carrier pigeons – you name it! The more, the merrier!

Once again, THANK YOU for your support!
