Don’t turn a blind eye when in “paradise”!
Auckland
I recently came back from a holiday in Bali where the state of the stray animals was traumatising.
I witnessed a “hit and run” where tourists driving a motorbike hit a puppy and didn’t get off to see if it was ok.. even outraging locals… I ended up taking him to the vet which lead me to AMAZING rescue/ charities. After visiting Mia’s Healing Sanctuary shelter and hearing about their (heartbreaking) but heroic work, I want to help them more than ever, so they can continue to do the work they’re doing, caring for animals like the hit pup “Neo”.
“Neo” is now with Selina’s rescue (skinsbuem on Instagram) and she needs help with not only him but SO many in her care as well as all the rest on the street which she tries to help as much as possible - exactly what I tried to do on holiday there - which felt like ENDLESS work.
Sterilisation is something that has fallen on the already overwhelmed charity groups (rather than the government) and if you try googling getting the government to help nothing comes up. The only way to help is to keep the amazing rescuers going, even donating food, medicine and things like blankets to them directly but ultimately focusing on sterilisation, to hopefully make a serious change.
Check out both Mia’s Healing Sanctuary & Selina (skinsbuem) on Instagram 🫶🏼❤️🩹
I met with two rescuers (at Mia’s Healing Sanctuary) which I visited when I was there who I want to raise funds from NZ
Food, medicine, vaccinations, sterilisation. Funds will be sent directly to the feeders and vets, referred by Mia’s Healing Sanctuary.
