Help us give Tim more time with his wife & three children. This page is fundraising for Tim's treatment overseas - in Spain or the USA.
Island Bay, Wellington
Tim has locally advanced pancreatic cancer (often referred to as stage 4): there's no cure & no further viable treatment in New Zealand. Tim’s been through chemo, then combined chemo & radiation. Surgery isn’t an option because the tumour is wrapped around major veins & blood vessels.
In September 2025, Tim & his family’s world was turned upside down with his diagnosis. In December he was given a life expectancy of approx 12-18 months. Pancreatic cancer is extremely aggressive, less than 20% of patients survive a year, around 5% make it to 5 years.
Tim - dad, husband, brother & friend - has the opportunity to travel overseas for an innovative new treatment, Histotripsy, used widely for liver cancer, and now available for pancreatic cancer as part of a clinical trial in Spain & on compassionate grounds in the USA. It's not a cure but we hope it will help buy Tim longer with us. Histotripsy uses targeted ultrasound waves which are synchronised to create tiny bubbles within the tumour. The force created as these microbubbles form & collapse breaks apart the tumour mass, killing tumour cells.
Updates will be provided on this page once a treatment option has been confirmed and further information becomes available.
Tim needs your help getting there, he has spent his life being the reliable one, which is why asking for help doesn't come naturally to him. But we, his friends & family, have insisted: this is one thing he doesn't have to do alone. Through it all, Tim has worked hard to stay fit and well, he's determined to make it well into 2027 and beyond.
I am a good friend of Tim and his family; I've set up this page with Tim & Kylie's permission on behalf of their friends in the Island Bay, Wellington, community & Tim's family in the UK.
Whether treatment takes place in Spain or the USA, all funds raised will go towards medical treatment, flights, and accommodation costs, which are expected to total up to NZ$100,000 (approximately £40,000 GBP). Our fundraising goal is NZ$50,000. If circumstances change, any remaining funds will be used for unfunded medical expenses, living costs, in-home care, and other essential family needs.
Big screens 13 October 2026
We’ve made it to $60,000! It’s still hard to believe the kind generosity of all of you. It has meant so much to Tim & his family. Thanks also to our anonymous donor who helped with a 'Matched Giving' campaign - during that time, this generous donor doubled each donation.
As mentioned in our last update, Tim has booked a trip to the States, and we can’t wait for him to go! It was your support which allowed him to take this step. We still have a way to go, as the treatment in the States is more expensive, so we’re keeping up our efforts.
We all had great fun at the Shaun the Sheep movie fundraiser, which as you can see was sold out. $500 was also raised by the Kapiti housie ladies on the same day, which was really kind of them. We’ve got more events coming up soon.
We also had the great news that the Wellington Phoenix – the football team which Tim and Kylie have supported for many years - have offered to help. Among other things, on Sat 25 Oct at Hnry Stadium in Wellington, when both the women and men teams are playing, they’re going to put Tim’s Givealittle page up on their big screens, to help raise awareness of the fundraising. As if this whole fundraising thing hasn’t been enough of a weird experience for Tim, being up on the big screens will probably top it all off! Go Phoenix ⚽ 💛🖤
Thanks again for being Tim's support crew. Please share the link to this page with anyone who might be able to help,
