Help Tim get life extending treatment for incurable pancreatic cancer

Tim has locally advanced pancreatic cancer (often referred to as stage 4): there's no cure & no further viable treatment in New Zealand. Tim’s been through chemo, then combined chemo & radiation. Surgery isn’t an option because the tumour is wrapped around major veins & blood vessels.

In September 2025, Tim & his family’s world was turned upside down with his diagnosis. In December he was given a life expectancy of approx 12-18 months. Pancreatic cancer is extremely aggressive, less than 20% of patients survive a year, around 5% make it to 5 years.

Tim - dad, husband, brother & friend - has the opportunity to travel overseas for an innovative new treatment, Histotripsy, used widely for liver cancer, and now available for pancreatic cancer as part of a clinical trial in Spain & on compassionate grounds in the USA. It's not a cure but we hope it will help buy Tim longer with us. Histotripsy uses targeted ultrasound waves which are synchronised to create tiny bubbles within the tumour. The force created as these microbubbles form & collapse breaks apart the tumour mass, killing tumour cells.

Tim needs your help getting there, he has spent his life being the reliable one, which is why asking for help doesn't come naturally to him. But we, his friends & family, have insisted: this is one thing he doesn't have to do alone. Through it all, Tim has worked hard to stay fit and well, he's determined to make it well into 2027 and beyond.
