Help to give Jo more time with her two boys
Auckland
Jo Simpson is a much-loved Mum of two boys, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law and friend. Jo has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, the breast cancer she beat 6 years ago has unfortunately metastasized and is now in Jo's liver, lungs and brain. The prognosis Jo has been given isn't great, however if anyone can show this shitty disease who is boss it's Jo! She's an amazing and strong wahine who remains positive and determined throughout this journey. For the past 5 months Jo has been trying every treatment her oncologists have recommended, but unfortunately these treatments haven't worked, and it's now recommended that she start an unfunded chemo treatment ASAP (nab-Paclitaxel/Abraxane), which she will remain on for as long as it's having results. This treatment isn't cheap ($10k per month) and Jo, who has given up her job for the time being, needs our help to cover the costs. Anything you can give (no matter how small) is hugely appreciated. Please help us to give Jo as much time as possible with her cherished boys, Luke (14) and Liam (9). Any excess funds raised will be used to pay for an awesome holiday somewhere in Aotearoa for Jo and her two boys.
Jo is my sister-in-law.
Jo will use any money donated here to pay for the unfunded chemotherapy treatment nab-Paclitaxel/Abraxane. She will stay on this treatment for as long as it is having results.
Aroha nui to Jo 21 June 2023
Very sadly Jo left us last Wednesday morning, with her two boys at her side. She fought long and hard, and always with positivity and courage. Many thanks to everyone who very kindly contributed to Jo's treatment. This treatment kept Jo with us, and with her boys, for a whole year and half longer than predicted, time in which Jo created some very special memories for her boys. We farewelled Jo yesterday and it was a beautiful service that celebrated the incredible wāhine and mother that she was. Kia kaha Jo on your final adventure. We love you and will miss you, always.
