Tom the cat was attacked by a dog on New Year’s Day, and needs your help.
Wellington
Tom, a 10 year old cat, was enjoying the sunshine with his owner and friends at a campground.
Upon seeing the cat from a nearby trail, a pair of dog owners told their dog to "sic' em" repeatedly, and continued to encourage the dog after he had caught Tom.
The attack lasted approximately 20-30 seconds, and only ended thanks to the quick thinking actions of a fellow camper, who ran towards the dog yelling. This startled the dog to drop the cat and run back to his owners, who purportedly laughed before continuing through Colonial Knob and out of sight.
The cat has sustained considerable injuries, the most serious of which is a broken pelvis that has rendered him unable to walk. He is currently under vet care.
He will need more diagnostics including X-rays, and will likely be facing a lengthy and expensive recovery.
Any donations for his care will be gratefully received. Any donations in excess of the vet bills will be put towards the costs of the SPCA investigation
SPCA Wellington is a not for profit, upholding the Animal Welfare Act 1999. They are currently investigating this case.
Funds will be used for the vet bills and associated costs of Tom's treatment.
Surplus funds will be donated to the SPCA to help cover the costs of the investigation
