Help us to bring Charlie home!

$642 of $5,000 goal
Given by 8 generous donors in 7 weeks

Raising funds for vet care and ongoing costs to bring Charlie home.

Te Kauwhata, Waikato

On Dec 3rd, Ben’s much loved horse and family member, Charlie, suffered a communal paddock injury while at an organised trek in Taupo, resulting in a puncture to his tendon sheath. Initially faced with the heartbreaking possibility of having to euthanise him, we started medication which Charlie has shown significant improvement, and we're fully committed to his recovery.

Although his rehab is lengthy and costly, our vets have faith that Charlie will not only heal but also return to being ridden. Currently under care at the Waikato Equine vet center, Charlie has faced complications and is now in a cast with limited movement. Our focus is on aiding his recovery, including preparing a shelter at home where he'll stay for several months.

While the Te Kauwhata community has been incredibly supportive with donations of materials & supplies for the shelter, we're eager to bring Charlie home and appreciate any donations that can help with his return. As someone who typically doesn’t hesitate to donate but struggles to accept help, family and friends have suggested we create this fundraiser as they wanted to support, and every little bit is going to be so appreciated.

If I can have one wish this Xmas, it’s that money isn't a barrier to his recovery - thank you for anything you can spare.

Much love.

Fay, Ben, Charlie & Shiloh who is missing him terribly xx

“I can’t see a way through” said the boy.

“Can you see the next step?”

“Yes”

“Just take that said the horse”

Use of funds

The money raised will go towards vet costs and ongoing rehab. He will leave the vet centre with $8k in treatment plus ongoing vet checks once he is home, bandage changes, hay and feed, stable costs etc.

Every little bit will help towards this <3
