Dunedin RDA needs a new horse that is suitable for riders with disabilities: quiet, tractable, and quick to transition to our programme.
Fairfield, Dunedin
Olly will strengthen our ability to offer riders with disabilities opportunities to experience the benefits of therapeutic horseback riding.
The core purpose of Riding for the Disabled (RDA) is to provide interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs.
Therefore, at Dunedin RDA our horses are our essence. We need to maintain a herd that suits our needs and has a succession plan. Right now, we have to address that need.
It is often difficult to source a horse with the right combination of movement, temperament, conformation, understanding and physical presence who will slot quickly into our therapeutic riding programme.
We have a rare opportunity to bring Olly into our team. He is 11 years old, 16hh, with a riding school history that confirms he is perfect for children in all ways.
He also comes with his own tack.
His current owner reluctantly gave us this opportunity because while Olly is easy to ride and kids love him, he is just a bit too slow for the ones who want to jump most rides. For us; that’s not a problem.
The huge advantage for DRDA is that Olly already has lots of experience with many of the types of activities that we use in our programme.
We would really appreciate your financial support so that we can bring Olly to join our herd here in Fairfield. We are certain that he will begin bringing joy and benefits to riders as soon as he has settled into his new home.
Dunedin Group RDA is a registered charity, located in Flower Street, Fairfield, Dunedin.
DRDA's therapeutic horse riding and horse care sessions impart confidence, independence and well-being benefits to those coping with disabilities and life challenges.
The funds you contribute will be used solely to bring Olly and his wardrobe to Dunedin RDA, and to meet any associated costs such as a vet inspection and transport.
Russell. Thank you for helping us bring Olly to his new home. Grant Shackell, President DRDA
