Help raise $150,000 for a new seabird ward and quarantines, cages, nursery brooders, veterinary care, medicines and specialist food
Whangarei, Northland
Every week, sick, injured and orphaned birds arrive at Whangārei Bird Recovery Centre needing urgent, skilled care. We are raising $150,000 to create safer treatment spaces and help meet the direct costs of rehabilitation.
The appeal will fund a dedicated seabird ward and improved quarantine and biosecurity facilities, helping us isolate new admissions, reduce infection risks and protect birds already in care. It will also provide new cages for the general ward and two nursery brooders for vulnerable chicks and unwell birds.
Donations will also support veterinary examinations, diagnostic testing, pain relief, antibiotics, prescribed antifungal treatment, fluids, wound-care supplies and specialist food such as fish, seed, fruit, supplements and hand-rearing formula.
These costs continue every day. Your donation will help us improve our facilities while continuing to give sick and injured birds professional, compassionate care and their best chance of recovery and release.
Every contribution makes a difference. Please donate if you can and share this appeal with your family, friends and workplace. If project costs change, funds will be used for closely related bird care, rehabilitation, quarantine and biosecurity needs. Together, we can build a safer future for Northland’s wild birds.
Whangārei Native Bird Recovery Centre is a Northland charity caring for sick and injured wild birds, from small songbirds to kiwi and seabirds. Our aim is to help each bird recover and return to the wild
Funds will support a seabird and quarantine ward, new general-ward cages, two nursery brooders, veterinary care, medicines and specialist food. If we fall short, donations will fund the most urgent improvements and immediate bird care
