Laura has been battling chronic illness for almost 7 years. She's 24. Let's get her to Germany for her best shot at a cure 💜
Bay of Plenty
In 2018, at just 17 years of age, Laura went solo travelling. Just a couple of months into her travels she ended up in a hospital in Bali severely sick with Salmonella poisoning, at least that was the diagnosis at the time. Unable to recover enough to continue her travels, Laura returned home to NZ.
That was the beginning of a health nightmare that our poor girl has been battling for almost 7 years now. She has since learnt that she also contracted Ross River virus (a blood-borne disease) and Lyme Disease during her short time travelling. No wonder she has been so sick!... severe nausea, shaking, digestive issues, circulation issues, arthritic joint pain, fevers and night sweats, sinus issues, TMJ pain, chronic fatigue... you name it, it's likely been a part of Laura's struggle these past few years (and she's just 24 years old).
Thankfully she has been under the care of her wonderful doctor, Jules, who has herself, recovered from chronic Lyme Disease. Jules did this by travelling to a German hospital (Clinicum St. Georg) that specialises in treating chronic Lymes using both Western and integrative medicine approaches. The chance of this being a successful cure for Laura is high! So it's a no-brainer, we're sending her to Germany in April. It is, as you can imagine, a very costly venture, something she and her fiance could not possibly fund themselves. Hence starting this Givealittle fund 💜

Laura is my daughter. Her wellbeing means the world to me. It has been so awful watching her struggle for so long. It's such a relief that the end to her pain is finally in sight.
Donations will go towards treatment costs (to get her there and treated will cost around $60k)
It's all go! 7 May 2025
Thank you so so sooooo much for your beautiful kind heart and generous donation towards Laura's Lymes treatment in Germany 💜 She is almost finished... just 3 days more of her full-on treatment protocol to go. It's been a harrowing time for her, and she is understandably nervous about her second and final round of whole body hyperthermia that she is starting in a couple of hours (the first one left her feeling pretty rotten), but she is such a strong and courageous wee battler. The staff at the German hospital have been amazing, and Laura has been looked after so well by her dad. Plus her man, William, joined her last weekend after a month apart, which put a smile on her dial. Laura has been a bit light on keeping the updates coming on her social media pages, and rightly so... she needs to focus on getting through, resting, and prioritising her mental and physical wellbeing right now. I know she'll get those posts up once she has capacity for that.
Thanks again. Your love, support and encouraging words have made the world of difference for Laura and her family. We are all so very grateful 💜
Can't wait to see our girl well and thriving again soon!
