We’re raising $25,000 to buy hay and feed over 40 rescued horses currently in our care across foster homes and at our rescue base.

Rodney Animal Rescue is one of the only large animal rescues still operating in Aotearoa. Since 2020, we’ve rescued and rehabilitated over 170 horses—many of them neglected, abandoned, or surrendered due to financial hardship. Right now, over 40 horses rely on us for food, shelter, and care—both at our rescue base and in approved foster homes.

Hay is one of our most important (and expensive) resources. We’re currently going through up to 100 bales every 2–3 weeks, which costs us over $500 each time—even with generous discounts from supportive suppliers. At full cost, our hay bill can reach $25,000 a year.

We’ve launched this hay drive to help cover those costs and ensure no rescue horse goes hungry. Your donation—big or small—goes directly towards feeding horses in need.

About us

We are an Animal Rescue based in Rodney, Auckland, New Zealand with a focus on rescuing & rehabilitating large animals. We also offer education on animal welfare and wellbeing.

Use of funds

Funds raised will go directly toward purchasing hay to feed over 40 rescue horses currently in our care, covering bulk orders made every 2–3 weeks and helping us meet our annual hay costs of up to $25,000.
