I have set up this page to help my Auntie pay for her aneurysm treatment in the Philippines
Auckland
I've started this page to help raise funds for my 70 year old auntie who currently has brain aneurysm as big as an adult thumb. A brain aneurysm can leak or rupture, causing bleeding into the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). A ruptured aneurysm quickly becomes life-threatening and requires prompt medical treatment. She is currently confined at a hospital in the Philippines being closely monitored by her doctors.
At the moment, the doctors have advised that there is a 40% chance that the brain aneurysm will rupture any time and that she is a ticking time bomb.
The recommended medical treatment is an endovascular coiling procedure. They estimate that she will require a minimum of 10 coils. Each coil costs Php80,000 ($2,500NZD). That's Php800,000 ($25,000NZD) for the coils alone. Doctors have advised that the whole procedure may cost close to Php2,000,000 ($62,000NZD). In addition to this, with her old age, she will require closely monitored post-op care at home and her continuous medication.
Auntie Babes is like a second-mum to me. She helped my mum raise me and my 3 siblings when my dad had a stroke. While growing up she's always treated us like her own children and always made us a priority. She lives a life of single-hood and continuously supported my mum in raising all 4 of us. I am hoping to be able to give back and make her feel that she is also a priority and eventually after the operation she can enjoy her retirement to its fullest without having to think about us or others - just focusing on herself for once.
My siblings and I have committed to help out. However, with the urgency of the situation, this limits us to save up for such a huge amount in a short amount of time. Therefore, I am humbly knocking on your kind hearts to help me raise any amount that can help towards her medical operation and after care.
I'm raising funds for my auntie who's been like a second mum to me.
