Help us fix Saffron’s teeth

  • It is done! Thank you!!

Yesterday was Saffron’s dental cleaning. Her blood test came through clear, so she was good to go. The doctor found she had a slight heart murmur but wasn’t worried and told me they’re always really cautious, and will give her the best care possible.

In the end they removed 2 teeth. I’m looking forward to counting how many teeth she actually has left, since she was already missing a few when we got her. She was sent home with pain meds and antibiotics. As soon as we got home she was screaming like her normal self, ready for her food and cuddles. She’s acting like nothing happened!

The cost came to $1045, so we will donate $55 to Kitten haven Kapiti

A special thanks to Western Vets for their expert care and Kitten Haven Kapiti for the advice around getting quotes and fundraising.

To every single one of the donors and people that shared this, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This was an incredibly stressful ordeal for us and I’m so grateful for the help and support we have received to help our little weirdo get the help she needed.

  • One week off!

      10 July 2024

We have reached our goal and still have a week to go for Saffron’s procedure. I just wanted to share the amount of gratitude I have for every single person that has shown our Saffron love. I’m very fortunate to live in a world where people like all of you exist.

I wanted to say again that our goal will cover all her blood tests, anaesthesia, the cleaning and one tooth removal. If she doesn’t need that tooth removed the extra money will be donated to Kitten Haven Kapiti. If she needs more than one tooth removed…we’ll, watch this space

  • Saffron said she didn’t want to get her teeth done today

So today was go day, but we got the results of her blood test, which showed elevated ALT, which means we need to give her a liver supplement and come back in a month. We also need to try and get a bit of meat on her, since she weighs a whopping 3.3kg. Saffron is stoked about leaving the vet and I’m grateful for the thorough work up at Western Vets.

However, this means that we need to restart the process again in a month, adding to our bill.

Today’s costs was $250 for her blood test and $100 for Samlyn, the medication for her liver.

I’d like to thank everyone for their help and support through this. It’s made a stressful process that much more bearable. I can’t wait to see her shiny teeth (what’s left of them anyway!)

I just took Saffron for her blood test to prepare for the dental cleaning. Here’s hoping all the results are good so that we can go ahead tomorrow. It’s quite a shocker to see that she weighs 3.55kg, almost half of my cat! Thanks again to everyone that made this possible ♥️

    Fingers crossed everyone.

  • New vet quote

      10 June 2024

I took Saffron to Western vets today to find out how much they will charge for a dental clean and extraction. We got a cheaper quote of a minimum of $550, then $100 per tooth extracted and $100 for antibiotics if any teeth are extracted (which is likely). Hopefully it’s only one tooth that needs to be extracted. I have updated the goal on this page :)

Thanks every single one of you!
