Help us raise funds to build young Cook Islands futures in Robotics
Auckland
Our vision is for our children and youth to become leaders in STEAM for the benefit of our Cook Islands community in country and globally. Our Mission is to make STEAM fun, and thanks to partners and supporters we now have the Centre for Excellence in IT based in Rarotonga. I founded Code Avengers and CI Robotics Club (aka the Cocobots) to target 8-12yo and 13-18yo to get kids interested in STEAM through Robotics, and now we are the Official Country Partner for FIRST Global.
- Code Avengers (8-12yo) is where we introduce kids to computing, coding, online safety and robotics.
-CI Robotics is a little more serious and introduces youth to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) through robotics competitions at a global level.
This year we are preparing our students to compete at the FIRST Global Olympics-style Robotics Competition in Athens Greece. Teams from 190+ countries design, build, code and compete with a unique robot of their own design. An incredible opportunity for our team and for Pacific youth to be part of the global robotics future. This is about setting our youth on career paths in STEAM showing them they can compete on the world stage!
First Global are incredible and provide us with flights, and accommodation and catering once we are in Greece. This is an incredible opportunity for our team and for Pacific youth to be part of the global robotics future.
I am the president of the Cook Islands Robotics Club and at the Centre of Excellence in IT.
Funds will be paid to Maurice who is on our Fundraising committee
To provide our team robotics kits (REV and VEX), equipment, facilities & internet, devices (headsets, tablets, PCs), media and marketing/promotional materials, travel and medical insurance, uniforms, travel/transit costs, training and meals.
We brought home GOLD! 22 October 2024
Thanks to your incredible support, we made it to Athens and represented the Cook Islands on the world stage! Over three thrilling days, our team competed in 12 matches against 36 countries, forming alliances with 24 nations. We faced challenges head-on, including a tough technical issue in one match, but every experience helped us grow stronger.
Out of 180 teams, we placed 60th, earning us a spot in the Finals thanks to a random draw selecting six additional teams. Joining forces with Team China, Moldova, and Madagascar in the Semi-Finals and Finals was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that pushed us to our limits.
Together, our Alliance scored an astonishing 338 points in the Finals, securing the GOLD medal! This historic win marks a milestone not just for our Robotics Club, but for the entire Cook Islands community.
We are deeply grateful for your encouragement, generosity, and belief in us. This achievement belongs to all of us. A huge Meitaki Ma'ata for making this journey possible! See full results: https://results.first.global/
