To purchase an AlphaLift mobility lifter for car transfers for my brother, Gerard, who has MS and in a wheelchair.
Auckland
We are raising funds to purchase an AlphaLift mobility lifter for car transfers for our brother, Gerard. Gerard is 58yrs old and has advanced Multiple Sclerosis and is unable to bear his own weight, meaning he has to be manually lifted from his wheelchair in and out of a vehicle. This is proving difficult and dangerous for him and us.
We have applied 4 times to Lotteries for funds for a mobility vehicle but have been turned down each time. The MOH are unable to help us.
We have been lucky enough to have had a demonstration of an AlphaLift from Richard and Alex of HT Systems (link below) and it would be a great alternative to a mobility vehicle, as it can be used by multiple cars.
We need to be able to get Gerard to numerous medical appointments and, for his mental health, be able to get him out of the house for outings for a brighter outlook on life.
I am Gerard’s sister, representing Gerard’s mother and other siblings who care for him.
The funds raised will be to purchase, or put towards an AlphaLift from HT Systems, but should there be any surplus, it will be used for items needed for Gerard’s care that are not covered by the Ministry of Health.
Purchase made, finally! 16 December 2021
Thank you to everyone, family, friends and strangers, who so kindly donated to help us purchase an Alphalift for Gerard. We have finally been able to cobble together the remaining funds needed and the lifter has arrived. After a wee modification to it, we should be good to go and do a spot of Christmas shopping! Heartfelt thanks to you all.
Many, many thanks for your kindness.
Thank you, whoever you are. 🙏❤️
